Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor

I earned a BS in Organizational Management from Colorado Christian University and an MA in Counseling and Human Services from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. I am a a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (#5134) in North Carolina and a national Certified Counselor (#209154). I have 20+ years of counseling experience and am a member of the American Counseling Association. My clinical experience includes individual, couples and family therapy.

I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) which is an intervention utilized to treat trauma and has concentrated training in EFT (Emotion Focused Therapy) for couples and individuals. I use an eclectic approach to therapy, utilizing aspects of Cognitive Behavioral, Internal Family Systems, Psychodynamic, and Solutions-Focused methods depending on the unique presenting problem of each client. I also utilize Prepare/Enrich curriculum when doing premarital counseling.

It is my hope to help create a warm, open-minded, empowering counseling environment in which you feel accepted as well as able to make progress towards your counseling goals. I use a person-centered style (which emphasizes empathy, acceptance, and authenticity) to meet each client where they currently are and to help facilitate finding balance in all aspects of life. Additionally, I am delighted to counsel from a Christian perspective should a client say they desire this approach in therapy.

On a more personal note, I highly value family. I have four adult, married children and 9 grandchildren! We love doing family projects together, hiking, beach trips and traveling! I love making quilts and gardening. My faith is a very important aspect in my life as well.
